I am in a relatively large unit of about 300 members. As such during peak play times, we have lots of users logging on/off. Currently whenever a user in your faction logs on or off and subsequently automatically joins the unit chat, you get a "notification" in the form of the social icon flashing.

This is incredibly annoying and I'd love to see the number of events that trigger the flashing social icon be reduced. I would suggest getting the flashing icon only for the following events:
  • Group invitation
  • Group roster change (add/remove member)
  • Unit invitation
  • Message/chat from user (unit member or friend)

I agree. It is very annoying in it's current state.

I agree. And to take it one step further change the color. Friend chat green. Unit chat yellow. Invites (group or friend) red. Sort of like a stop light. They should be prioritized. Invites most important, unit chats second, and friend chats third. If more than one of these conditions exists the color would be that of the highest priority. Once cleared and other conditions still exist then that would be the new color. None of the above? Stay blue and not flash.

Sooooooooo much this.

I do not need to keep checking my social tab every time somebody from my faction logs in or quits. I only need to know if somebody posts or sends me an invite of some sort.

IRC software had the ability to hide joins/parts/quits back in the 90's. Why doesn't MWO?

I'll second that motion. Ignoring the nuisance "connected/disconnected chat" notifications sometimes causes me to miss invites.

with my clan we have a fair amount of folks as well, and I have a fairly large friends list... and it drives me buggy to see that icon flashing near continuously in high peak times... how about giving us the option of setting when we want it to flash? I am not concerned with friend or unit coming and goings... just msgs, invites and requests for me... it's gotten to the point that I have lost dozens of group invites because of that flashing, and the decision to ignore it because of the frequency of it

+1000000000000000000000

Its annoying as ****, as one clicks on it to see if a friend/unit member SENT them an INVITE or MSG.... NOPE, if flashes just cuz someone ******* logged ON/OFFLINE. WTF???
